Outlook Express Newsreader Setup Instructions

Where can I get Outlook Express?

Windows Users:
Internet Explorer 5.5 or later includes Outlook Express. You can download Outlook Express from the Internet Explorer Downloads page.

Macintosh Users:
You have two options; download Outlook Express 5.0.6 for Mac OS 8.1 to 9.x or download and install Outlook 2001 which includes Outlook Express and works on Mac OS 8.6 to Mac OS X 10.2.x.

1. Launch Outlook Express.
2. Choose Tools» Accounts.
3. In the Internet Account dialog, click the Add button, and then choose News.
4. In the Internet Connection Wizard that appears, type your full name in the Display name field, and then click Next. (Note: Please be sure to use your full name so that we can assist you better.)
5. Type your E-mail address in the E-mail address field, and then click Next.
6. Type support.cartweaver.com in the News (NNTP) Server field. (Note: You may leave the checkbox empty.)
7. Click Next. Click Finish.
8. You will return to the Internet Connection Wizard where you may now click Close.
9. You will be asked, "Would you like to download newsgroups from the news server you added?" Click Yes.
10. In the Newsgroup Subscriptions dialog box, click the newsgroup in the Accounts section on the left. (support.cartweaver.com).

    The Newsgroup Subscriptions dialog will display several newsgroups. You do not need to subscribe to all of them, only the ones relevant to your needs.

    The All tab should be selected, where you'll see a list of Cartweaver newsgroups. Click on the newsgroup you'd like to subscribe to and then click Subscribe.
12. Click OK and you're all set. You may now proceed to the newsgroup by expanding the support.cartweaver.com listing (on the left of the Outlook Express window just below your Local Folders) and click on the newsgroup listed that you wish to visit.
